PHP doesn't obey php.ini changes

Hello

I made changes to my php.ini file to enable imap functions on my scripts (uncomenting extension=php_imap.dll parameter)
For some strange reason, I continue to get "call to undefined function..." errors when call imap function.
I run a phpinfo() script and it shows that the php.ini path is "c:\winnt". I´m sure there´s a php.ini file there.
What is wrong?

After issuing a %SYSTEMROOT% command in the run Windows box, I found that it´s set to "C:\w98", the system folder for my old operating system (I changed to W2K).
For some reason, php was looking for php.ini in this place, so I put there the correct php.ini and now the extensions are working
