What is ASCII deliniated format?

The subject pretty much says it all. Any info on what that is and how to convert PHP scripts to it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

im not sure what ascii delimited is but i know ascii is just a numeric representation for the various characters.

a = 97;
b = 98
and so on.

there is a php function [man]ord[/man] which gives the ascii value of a character, and then [man]chr[/man] which goes the other way.

i know you can do thigns in hex format, like in c/c++ where they do,
unsigned char var[] = "\x0A\x2B\x97\x100";

like that. you can easily get the hex value as the ascii decimal value and then do stuff.
im not sure if that helped at all or was related 🙂.

I, too, am a bit confused by the "delineated." Can you supply some kind of context you saw this phrase in?

Drew010 outlined ASCII pretty well.. just think of it as a 256-base number system, where each character is a number.

After you read up on it, maybe ask yourself what your reason is for converting to it for your situtation.

hmm... is the word "delimited" or "delineated"?

A PHP script is ASCII delineated to begin with, in my opinion, unless you are using non-ASCII or extended ASCII characters in it.

An ASCII delimited file would be interesting, since it would mean that you are using ASCII characters to delimit data from another character set, which is a most curious thing to do.
