adding modules after installation

Is it possible to add the oracle 8i module into an existing and stable installation of php without having to re-install php?

What OS are you using?

As for Windows you just put the dll in the directory (assumption that oracle is installed on the machine e.g. libraries) and then enable the module/extension in the php.ini file.

Linux/Unix is the same regarding the php.ini file and so file, but no 100% sure if you need to re-comple php.
