How do you accept credit cards online for small business?

I understand on the PHP side of e-commerce: making a shopping cart, displaying products, etc.

But, how do you actually perform the transaction? I know PHP is bundled with some API's to process credit card orders online.

I AM straight ASKING you readers what is a low-load (small amount of transactions) service that is out there that could allow me to easily accept cards online seamlessly (not redirecting like PayPal).

Please, please, list some sites because all the one's im finding are either too expensive (verisign) or too ghetto.

Authorize.net (http://www.authorizenet.com/) is a good way to accept cards. it requires you to haev a merchant account with your bank and they have fairly low rates per transaction. it depends on volume really. they also list banks that are partnered with them and give information on aquiring a bank account with those banks listed.

SecPay have a seamless option. Generally though I use either Streamline Direct from RBS or EPDQ from Barclays. But they're not cheap, and you need a merchant account with the respective banks.

Most banks have their own solutions. Ask them.
