Xml

I'm wanting to make 2 xml files for information that I'll use over and over. My hope is that these two files can be parsed by InDesign for print work and php for online work.

1) File will contain my personal info (name, number, address)

2)A resume file.

I'm wanting to do this so that when any of the info needs updating I'll just have to update one file.

My question is is it practical to do such a thing with php in order to put my resume on line.

actually, your idea sounds interesting, however, i do not know in which way xml is used by InDesign. Can u post a short example of a xml file u generated using that program?

Actually I haven't created the xml file yet. I just know that InDesign can parse an xml file. So I thought if php can parse an xml then all I need is xml files to hold my info and php and InDesign to parse the files into my layouts.

But I'm not sure how easy it is get php to do this.

well it depends on whether u have had any experience with xml before or not. if u r familiar with xml, it should be no problem since php supports dom and expat to parse the xml-file, if not, pls post and xml-file and i can tell u if it's easy to parse or not. but in general, there r lots of php xml tutorials on the net (google), so if u wanna start usin xml with php, i recommend reading a few of these.

I'm going to start that process tonight. I've read a few before but now I have a reason to actually use it.

Hopefully I'll be able write an xml file tonight.
