How can I accomplish this

I have a textarea where the user enters data that post to a database. The user always ends the info that they type with there email address in the textarea

i.e

blah blah blah blah blah
blah blah blah blah blah
blah blah blah blah blah
blah blah blah blah blah

[e-mail]

How can I make only the email address from the textarea be an actual mailto: link on the output page

After some searching I pieced togehter how to do it.

$new_message = ereg_replace ('[_a-zA-z0-9\-]+(\.[_a-zA-z0-9\-]+)*\@' . '[_a-zA-z0-9\-]+(\.[a-zA-z]{1,3})+', '<a href="mailto:\\0">\\0</a>', $message);

print $new_message;
