Cookie/Script to Set Background Music on or off

I'm looking for a cookie/script that allows the viewer of my site to turn off the background music throughout the site (I will be using different songs on different pages) via a click of a button. The cookie would be set for only a day but if they come back to the site within 24 hours, the site would read the cookie and set the background music either on or off depending upon their last action.

Can anyone help with this?

Just use setcookie() to set it, and check its value via $_COOKIE. Use the value of the cookie to find out whether or not to output the bit of code that plays the music.
