[Resolved] Explode and the new line

I would like to use explode to break up a string that contains several line of text. I think the line are separated by a new line or carriage return. How do I supply explode with the \n or cr to have it find the separator?

$blah = explode("\n", $text);

This should get you started. You can confirm the use of the newline (\n) being exploded properly by echoing out the string using the nl2br() function.

$tobreakup = "This is a \n new line \n of text \n to display";
$thebreakup = explode("\n", $tobreakup);
$countarray = count($thebreakup);
FOR($i = 0; $i < $countarray; $i++):
	echo $thebreakup[$i]."<BR/>";
ENDFOR; 

// To confirm the use of the \n newline in the string.
echo nl2br($tobreakup);

Then each line should be address as $Blah[0] Blah[1] etc. right?

There must be more than just \n in the text because I get all of the text in $Blah[0]
for example " Writer, editor, layout, design, start-to-finish publishing Experience in PageMaker, Photoshop, Illustrator, MS Office, Front Page 17 years experience producing newsletter, direct mail, business and promotional materials. " is all in one value.

Then change your explode() accordingly:

$tobreakup = "This is a <br> new line <br> of text <br> to display";
$thebreakup = explode("<br>", $tobreakup);
$countarray = count($thebreakup);
FOR($i = 0; $i < $countarray; $i++):
	echo $thebreakup[$i]."<BR/>";
ENDFOR;

That got it! Now the only problem is the string starts with a " and also has a vertical tab in two spots. I guess I can delete the first 4 chrs and do a preg_replace for the vert tab.
