All Links In One File?

Is it possible for PHP to have something like this?

File1.php:
Link1 in Links.php

File2.php:
Link2 in Links.php

Links.php
Link1
Link2

Like in Links.php you have the links listed (eg link1 and link2). Then you can just call the link1 from File1.php? and link2 in File2.php?

Is it possible to have like
<? include('http://www.domain.com/links.php+link1'); ?> ??

Something like this.. am i making any sense? sorry im new to this. thanks a lot guys!

two ways you can do it.

In your vars.php file you can make your variable the entire url:

$link1 = "<a href=\"link101.htm\">go to</a>

be sure to escape the parenthesis.

Or you can leave it the way you have it, and in your main file use this:

<?
echo "<a href=\"$link1\">go to</a>";
?>

again, escaping the parenthesis.

I find the first way easier so that if you need to change the link, or the link name, you only have to do it in one file...

or simply use single quotes... which would actually save you some time in the php processing....

and do it like so

//i would recommand doing it like this if you do not intend to parse any PHP variables in the actual $link1 value
$link1 = '<a href="link101.htm">go to</a>';

by the way, you also forgot to close your $link1 up there and the ; at the end 😉

It's becuase of the quotes " when you assing the link to the variable.

you have to do one of two things suggested in this thread.

either 1, use sing quote:
$101_music = "<a href='link101.htm'>go to</a>";
or escape the quotes
$101_music = "<a href=\"link101.htm\">go to</a>";

😕 i tried both. its still the same thing. im dumb. lol new to this really. do i need to include anything on the top portion of the html page?

PHP cannot use variables that start with numerics... ie: $101_whatever is invalid

thats why 😉

try your include with parenthasis, and see if this to see if it makes a difference:

<?php   

include ('links.php');   

?>

it was caused by him not using PHP open/close tags in the included file... INCLUDE requires fully validated PHP inorder for it to be interpretted also
