Apache / IE / PHP problem ?

Hi there all

Sorry but I will be testing your patience as I am very new to this !!

Just put on the 'All In One ' SAM's installation of
MYSQL ( 4.0.15)
Apache ( 2.0.47)
PHP (4.3.3)

Followed the instructions to the letter and kept checking things as I went along.

Apache loaded fine - both from local host and 127

Installed PHP making the required ammendments to the apache files as I did so . Did the first php page and first off had a problem with 'photoparade' a part of an Adobe Imaging package which uses ext of php that seemed to make my pc ask to open the file in that prog!! (Seemed no way around that so looks like I'll have to uninstall the Adobe package)

Thats not the real problem though.

After all this I though I'd better reboot the system to see if that helped - you never know !

What I then got upon loading localhost or 127 was this message

'Internet Explorer cannot download / from localhost'

Has anything changed in IE cos I rebooted ?

WHy is IE now looking to 'download' when I log onto localhost??

Rebooting seems to have done something.

I reinstalled everything again and cannot get past this .
Cannot find any reference to it any either

Any help much appreciated please - pulling my hair out

Check to make sure your Apache server and MySQL are running. Also, make sure your PHP is installed and running OK. (You may have to tweak some things in Apache, or your PHP.ini file). IE attempts to DL when it doesn't know what to do with the file by default. In other words, it runs across index.php (or whatever your default file is) and since nothing has parsed the PHP into a readable HTML format for IE, IE is confused about what to do with it.
