PHP email getting picked up as spam

Ok, it's probably me being an idiot, but it seems that some of my scripts that generate emails (from forms and so on) are getting filed as spam (hotmail and some local 'spam filters')...

The emails are getting sent for sure and they're definatly ended up in the spam box.

So, just a general enquiry, does anyone know of a code script / class that generates well formed emails that won't get filed as spam? Been looking around and playing with a few different scripts but it's hard to test as there's so many spam filters out there...

Any help much appreciated, as I've spent far to long on this one already! Time to ask the experts... Cheers!

Hi!

When I sent mail from my old webserver it got rejected as spam. When I now send it from my new one it goes through, so if you are using a respectable webserver then it should be ok, also headers play a big part. My headers in my emails are very simple:

$headers = "From: GuitarAd Registration <[e-mail]>\r\n";
$headers .= "Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1\r\n"; 

$message="<p>Thank You for registering with GuitarAd!</p>";
$message.="<p>Please keep this email as a reference as it contains your Username and Password.</p>";
$message.="<p>----------------------------------</p>";
$message.="<p>Username: ".$username."</p>";
$message.="<p>Password: ".$password."</p>";
$message.="<p>----------------------------------</p>";
$message.="<p><a href='http://www.guitarad.co.uk'>[url]http://www.guitarad.co.uk[/url]</a></p>";

mail($email,"GuitarAd Registration",$message,$headers);

Thats what I send out and I never have problems with spam filters 😃 Hope this helps!

Cheers for that, I'll give it a whirl. Any idea on the headers if it's just a plain text email???
