timezones

Hi,

Can't figure out how to deal with timezones. I do not want to display the time of the users timezone but the time in a timezone set in an admin file (most users will be locals).

I would like to display the time and timezone information on the pages.

I found something about setting timezones with putenv. But I think this is a pain as apparantly not all unix systems us ethe same format.

Anyone can get me going with is? For example, how to show the correct timezone abbreviation?

But, how can I use both for what I need?

As far as I know you still depend on whether the locals are available in the php install and, after a simple test, the time is still displayed for the php timezone, not the country set in setlocale(). I do get textual representation in the language of the chosen country, but this is not really what I need.

And if this is the only way to go, where can I get a list of all available local abbreviations?
