HTTP_REFERER environment variable not working

I had a site on the same server about 1 month ago
and it was working. The admin says he didnt change anything.

I cant get any HTTP_REFERER to work. I tried all the different ways. Is there a php.ini entry or something else that disables it?

Can i enable it just from the script?

So, you've tried:

 $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERRER'] 

to no avail?

'HTTP_REFERER'

The address of the page (if any) which referred the user agent to the current page. This is set by the user agent. Not all user agents will set this, and some provide the ability to modify HTTP_REFERER as a feature. In short, it cannot really be trusted.

yeah i tried that i also tried different versions,

btw, i am using the same browser and computer as before
when it worked
