thats an interesting one: MS Basic: July 1975, if MS means microsoft and the date is right then why is everything diseased with the MS infection have 1985-tomorrow on it?

and PHP begins its life in the same year as Java but is still not even nearly as popular as Java (PHP is not used in professional web development, source: CIW).

Hmm...just got back from an interview at UKIT training down here in London, and PHP features in the CIW course but only in stage 2 - the additional professional courses - straight after ASP.

1985 refers to Windows 1.0. (Incidentally, it's kind of telling that Microsoft is the only company that's still doing anything with the abomination that is BASIC).

Um, is that client-side Java or servlets/J2EE or whatever? If it's the client-side stuff, the comparison is irrelevant.
