Linking tables and outputting Data

I need to link two tables together. One is for a login script that keeps everyone's name and login information. The other is a list of places.

I need
a) a page where i can view everyone's completed places with their names
and
b) to create a form so they can update the places they've visited.

This is an idea of what i'm looking for

person 'John Doe' logs in;
a table shows up with all the participants names and a checkmark next to the places they've been (i.e. bank vault, jumbo tron etc.)

then when the person clicks a link say update or something

their name comes up with check boxes so they can mark the newly completed objectives.

I hope that's clear, i'm kind of new to linking tables so any help would be great.
