Alter Text in Textbox - Paragraphs

OK I am developing a article driven database. I want to be able to copy/paste text over into the textbox of my add.php and it automaticly keep the paragraphs I have made by pressing enter two times. I also want to make sure the basic symbols like the " and & are made into \" and &and so it doesn't screw with my code when I dispaly it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Look at this function:

Also, to keep special charactes like quotation marks, you need to escape them. In PHP, you use the \ (backslash).

While at the PHP manual, also do a search for:

addslashes
stripslashes

If the \ symbol is not familiar to you, you may want to peruse this online article before you dive into your project. It may save you some headaches, but headaches cannot be avoided completely:

THANKS 😃 THat just saved me a bunch of time! I spend three hours looking for "scripts" to do this and there was a built in function :bemused:

I also looked at the htmlspecialchars() while I was there and tried it out.

Problem with that is that I have some html tags in the fields that I want to keep, few div, h1, and img tags.

Any tips there? Tell it to keep the tags but only change stand alone '>' and '<' symbols??

This seems to work to my needs. Is there anything that could be wrong with doing this?
