Info on making member type site with existing forum database

Okay, I'm sort of in complete lost on where to begin on making a member type website. Here is what I want to do:

Instead of me making a registration script, I want to direct users to Invision Power Board's registration area. Once registered and logged in, the user can browse forums and other member areas.

So instead of creating a new database for username and password. I just would like to use the existing database for the forum and go on from there. Problem is, I don't know where to start?

Huh?

jonny, just look at their board's tables for how the user info is stored (and things like how their password is encrypted), so you can query their tables.

You can also look into how you can incorporate your links into their templates.

It may take some code digging to figure it out, but it shouldn't be too hard.
