Hardware Question

I know this is totally unrelated to php ... but ive gotten to know many of u pretty well and value the advice you all have given me in the past so figured I would ask this here as well.

I am looking to run 2 monitors for my desktop. I am looking at getting 2 Samsung SyncMaster 173P LCD FlatPanel Monitors.

Anyone have any experience with this monitor?
Anyone one have any suggestions on graphics boards to look into that can run 2 monitors?
- I am a heavy gammer (among other things) so the card
needs to be pretty decent.
- If not a card that runs 2 monitors how about a suggestion
on a good PCI video card.

Any advice or information you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Most current high end graphics cards have dual monitor support. Some just give the options to also do S-Video and DVI. So any ATI Radeon blah or NVidia GeForce FX should suit your needs.

any stock radeons have the capability for dual-head, just not the hookups. find one that does and your set.

Do yourself a favor and get a board that has dual DVI connectors, not just a DVI + VGA, with some stupid VGA->DVI dongle.

I'm currently running dual 19" LCDs via DVI on both, but on two separate, mediocre cards (AGP+PCI NVIDIA FX5200). It works, but in X, there's often "sparkly" pixels on the PCI-driven screen, and I've yet to find a solution. Another problem is, either due to differences in the chemical makeup of the screens (identical, but bought at different times), or differences in the hardware on the boards, the colors don't quite match (under BOTH Linux & Windows)

If you are running Linux or ever plan on running it, I'd suggest getting a NVIDIA board with dual DVI (5700 Ultra iirc-- some models have dual dvi-- have to look closely), as the drivers for the other manufacturers don't seem as "complete", especially when it comes to "fancy" features like multi-mon, tweaks, etc...
