adding instead of updating

Hi,

I have a field with a number in it, say its 2...

What I want to do, is add to that, as in when i hit submit, it adds a new number, without replacing it, so then the entry would be

2,5

or something like that? right now i'm using the update function, and its just replacing whatever the current number is... can anyone help?

mysql_query("UPDATE table SET number = '$number,5' WHERE number = '2'");

be advised that this will not work as expected if "number" is an iteger field.
