in_array help

I'm trying to pre-select values in a multiple select list with id values that are contained in an ordered array, but the code is only returning the last value as selected:

while ($row = $stallionResult->fetchRow()) {
     if ($mode == "modify" && in_array($row['id'], $stallionNewsRow)) {
          print "<option value=\""; echo $row['id']; print "\" selected>"; echo $row['name'];
     } else {
          print "<option value=\""; echo $row['id']; print "\">"; echo $row['name'];
     }
}

Any insight as to why this is happening would be much appreciated.

$stallionNewsRow exsists only once in your code... meaning to me that its never defined.... maybe you meant to use $stallionNewsRow as your $row = line at first?

Sorry about that. I should have mentioned that it is defined higher up in the code in a query template.

Here's a related question... if this is not the correct use of in_array or if someone has a better way of preselecting multiple list values based on ids that are contained within another array, I'm certainly be open to another approach.

What's the most efficient way to do something like this in PHP?

alright, what kinda HTML is it outputting? do you have a page that we can see what its outputting to help locate the problem?

and this is a SELECT tag not a checkbox or radio right?

In this example, 1 and 2 should be pre-selected, however only 2 is showing up selected.

Since I'm having trouble getting in_array to work, I just put the ids in a comma delimited list and then used strstr to search it. This seems to be working fine now.
