How to do this??

I'm using an include statement to include an admin navigation menu. Currently this menu only appears on the admin pages. I'd like to set the menu to only appear if the user has successfully logged in. I'm not using Cookies. I'm sure this is really simple to do. Anyone done this before/advice on how this can be achieved?

If your not using cookies, how do you know when a user has logged in?

I was thinking that I could set this using some sort of variable??

I mean what mechanism is currently there to allow a user to log in?

I have a mysql backend, db containing usernames/password. Users login from a login page (php based).

But you said that you don't use cookies? Does the login page initiate a session, and the session id is passed in the URL? If so then you can just set a session variable and look for that.

I don't use cookies. Although I can setup a session variable, I don't particularly want to enable cookies. I have a few suggestions to try out this weekend which should solve mey problem.
