get current page address

Is there a was of getting the address of the current page being viewed via php. I need the address of the current page to pass to a function and at the moment can't think of any other way than hard coding them into each page, some thing I don't want to do. Thanks in advance...Jo

Do you want to get variables from the URL or the actual URL?

$_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] 

$_SERVER['SCRIPT_FILENAME'] 

$_SERVER['SCRIPT_NAME'] 

$_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT']

or if the URL look like this www.spechal.com/index.php?var=hello

and you wanted to get hello

$_GET['var'];

this may not work as expected within frames
