validation for php form

i have a form with 'validation' on it. thing is it doesnt work at all. here is the code:

for($i=0;$i<count($required_fields);$i++) { 
    if(!isset($_POST[$required_fields[$i]]) || $_POST[$required_fields[$i]]=='') { 
        $err[$errCount]='You must provide a '.$_POST[$required_fields[$i]]; 
        $errCount     = $errCount + 1; 
    }else{ 
        $field[$fineCount] = $_POST[$required_fields[$i]]; 
        $fineCount    = $fineCount + 1; 
    } 
} 
if ($errCount>0) { 
    //output error code 
    $strOut = "Your submision generated the following errors:<br>"; 
    for ($i=0;$i<count($err);$i++){ 
        $strOut .= $err[$i] . "<br>"; 
    } 
}else{ do whatever

this code doesnt work. the page just hangs and doesnt refresh at all. anybody got any better suggestions?

i might suggest a simplier approach.

$errors = array();

foreach ($required_fields as $value)
{
	if (!isset($_POST[$value]) || (isset($_POST[$value] && !$_POST[$value]))
	{
		$errors[] = $required_fields[$value];
	}
}

if ($errors)
{
	echo 'you forgot to fill in ' . count($errors) . ' required fields:<br><br>';
	foreach ($errors as $value)
	{
		echo $value . '<br>';
	}
}

else
{
	// continue on...
}

this code is good. but is there a way to re write it to list the errors themselves. so instead of

'you forgot to fill in 13 fields' it shows

'you forgot to fill in your name
your address
your workhome_number

etc.

if the code could be written to fulfill that requirement that would be brilliant

this refers to this line

if (!isset($_POST[$value])) || (isset($_POST[$value] && !$_POST[$value]))

what i dont understand is that it was working a while back. but yes it only did a count of the mistakes but didnt actually tell you what those mistakes were.

slight typo, change to:

if (!isset($_POST[$value]) || (isset($_POST[$value]) && !$_POST[$value]))

you forgot to fill in 13 required fields:

that is the full feedback. like i said, it doesnt go to list what the errors were. doest say 'you forgot to fill in your name
your mobile num, etc

have a look for your self. click the link then just submit the form.
