PHP animation and sound.

I've constructed some crude avatars (talking heads) and am now trying to add some sounds to these heads. What I need is for the animated gif's and sound files to load and start at the same time. I'll use MySQL to store the sound files and animated gif's. My problem is how to synchronize the talking heads and the beginning of the sound files to start at the same time.

Can PHP and MySQL be used to call up different heads and sounds, have them load, and then launch in harmony?

I think you would be better off using Flash...PHP has some good libraries for building dynamic Flash movies.

I just got Studio MX 2004 with flash to try some of this out. I need to connect flash to a database to do this project and supposedly this version does it better.

Why the need for the database the only thing it will be good for is storing the files. However MX can call them directly and even store it in the flash file itself (the file size will be greater however) but it will be better synchronised then calling from a database or directly.

Well I'm going to be producing e-learning modules with the database to store student test scores. Also to repost certain questions.

The avatars will be part of the actual test themselves. They will talk to the students and read answers to keep people interested. I'm trying to find a way to get the sound and video files smaller for the avatars. I'm going to use flash to do that.

Do you know any good books on flash MX 2004 with PHP or maybe just flash MX 2004, I really need to learn that first?
