Need help with echo Href

I'm sure somebody has a simple solution to help a newbie... I've tried 50 combinations and a couple hours trying to get this line to work.......

I would like 1 simple line to echo a link to an external website, but can't seem to figure it out,,, I get a parser error with this

echo "<a href=/"www.somesite.com/">somesite</a>";

thoughts?

forward slash isn't an escape.

You need to escape the double quote, but that's done with the back slash, not forward slash.

Thanks for the link and the advise.... reversing my slashes did trick................

The correct syntax:
echo "<a href=\"www.somesite.com\">somesite</a>";
