phpmyadmin uploading text files

Hi;
can someone offer some insight on uploading text files to phpmyadmin for a MySql database?
I have 12 fields-the first is "id" which I leave blank for auto-increment. When I upload a text file with a few records, all looks ok in phpmyadmin, however, the queries don't work on my web page. However, when I "insert" the data one record at a time manually, the results display.
Any ideas?

I've had total pain in the rear experience with text files and phpmyadmin - I always upload the file and use shell access to dump it straight in.

Also I have encountered the problem where the first few results won't come out right on a query (as in they just don't display at all). Delete the table in mysql and remake it - it worked for me.

I will delete and re-create the db.

Is there an easy way that a newbie can use the shell access to the MySQL db to add the files-the hosting company has phpmyadmin as the way to access MySQL and I do not know if they allow it..

the hosting co has ssh access for an extra fee. Are there simple commands for inserting multiple text files? Is it rocket-science? Although phpmyadmin is not working for me with the text files, the shell access may be to difficult.. is there a place or is there a proceedure I can follow to help with the learning curve?
