refreshing causes duplicate shopping cart item... ideas?

Using the add_item() method of my Cart object works fine and dandy, but unfortunately if the user refreshes the page (for whatever reason) it adds the item again. Anyone have any ideas about how to prevernt this, or is this a standard flaw of shopping carts usually?

if its a cart object you wrote then you probably forgot to add some error checking for object already added....

if they wanted 2, they should updated the quantity on the view cart page... not click add again anyways right?

if its a prewritten... well then they probably forgot the same thing :p

eitherway, without code, nobody can really answer that without perusing the code... (which you didnt provide)
