htmlentities not to change within </>

Does anyone have a function to apply htmlentities to a string that contains html, and not have it convert the html, only the text in between the tags.

I was looking for a function that was already written with regex and all. Maybe I will have to just write it myself. I'm writting a CMS and on a tight deadline, and was just hoping maybe someone had already needed something like what I was asking for, and had already written.

It seems I have seen that a few times recently on the boards... Have you searched the forums for the applicable phrases? You know... "regular expression", "regexp", yadda yadda yadda....
