You've really got to get the hang of the difference sooner or later. How is the server going to know about things that happen on the client?

No. What's the point anyway? onload would be when the page is loaded. Just do the php when you load the page.
onsubmit is before the page is submitted to the server, in which case, can't be done. PHP resides on the server, so there's no way the sevrer will know to run your code.
