100's of images, pageNum problem

Hi guys

I got this script from somewhere of the net. I did a bit of mucking around trying to get it to work for me. I thought i had got it sorted but soon discovered that the script was just reloading the same first 6 images 🙁 from the db. I beleive the problem lies within the first query

$limit = 6;                  

if(empty($pagenum)) 
  $pagenum = 1; 
    else 
$limitvalue = $pagenum * $limit - ($limit); 
$i = $limitvalue + 1;
$k = $pagenum * $limit;

$result_count = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM imgTbl WHERE img_ref = '$img_ref'");

I think i should be setting some sort of other value within the query to check the value of pagenum,
If empty then read the first 6 rows from the db or if is pagenum has a value then read the next 6 and so on.

I tried some more tinkering but still no joy 🙁.

I volunteer my time, I'm sorry you feel it is my duty to download your file, open it, post it somewhere to review your mistakes (which generally are quite obvious when you look at the color highlited syntax on these forums), then explain them to you....

I am not your employee, so dont expect me to work for you. I offered you advice on how to better get an answer to your problem, and in return, you insult me? That may work for your 10th year buddies, but insults do little more than drive people towards not helping you for the simple fact that you do not show appreciate for the time you are given freely here.

Just imagine... had you actually posted your code how it is recommended here... I probably could have answered your question in the same amount of time that I wrote this... instead, your reading this. However, I sincerely hope you find this just as enlightening.

Right so my computer has been busted all week ( cooked motherboard) Suppose it is what i deserved if u guys have anything to say🙁

Anyways i am still no further forward. I thought of all forums that php builder would be the one to give me some kind of answer 🙁

Come one guys i know what the problem is just dont have the knowledge of php scripting to correct were i am going wrong.

what exactly is the column img_ref for?

akin to an ID column or something totally different?
