[Resolved] browser editable marquee script

Hi,

I'm looking for a script that makes a marquee on a page that is browser editable for use by a client who is not too internet savvy.

Anyone got one?

You also need a txt file, for example the current one I'm using can be seen at
http://www.eliteguard.co.uk/marqueetext.txt

It needs to be chmoded so that it can be edited by the php file, set it to 775 or so.

You'll also probably want some kind of security

am not very sure what u want... but i assume u want to allow the user change the marquee text.... so if thats what u want...then here goes...

The data would come from a text file which can be edited online using php. i already know how to edit the text file, the problem is i cant display the contents of the file into a marquee (that scrolls from right to left). i used the code below:

my problem is that it only displays the first line of the text file.

Please take note that my text file has several lines as the script that I use to EDIT that said text file (using php) adds the new content to the first line of the file, bringing the old content one line lower everytime new content is added.

do you know how i can display all the contents of the text file?

You could probably stroll on over to DynamicDrive and look through their scrollers... They are usually pretty easy to tweak to add in the PHP.

try using file_get_contents instead of file...this way u have a string that contains the file details.

i used file_get_contents instead of file and it now displays all the contents of my text file! thanks!

My problem now is that all the contents of that text file are displayed through the marquee continuously, thus when you look at the actual page, you can't distinguish the first message from the next one. I need it to display one message at a time.

I tried using javascript with php but im having trouble making it work. Is there any other way to seperate the first message from the next one (one message at a tme) without using javascript (just php alone)?

If you have read the thread about the browser editable marquee, THE DEFENDER suggested that I incorporate javascript to php to produce my marquee, but since I was having trouble with it, I used a marquee using php alone instead (through the help of PallaviDalvi). But now, I want to use javascript also because this way, i can set the marquee to display one item at a time and pause.

I want the marquee to get its contents from a text file so I can edit the message with ease. The text file will have atleast four lines and I want each line to be displayed as one message in the marquee.
