Lost 1,500 Row Mysql Table Please Help!!

I ASK FOR YOUR HELP AS I'M IN A STATE OF PANIC!

I have a REDHAT Linux 9 box with pretty much a default setup of MySQL and everything else.

This was running an EPOS system, with the table "orders" in the epos database, I installed OScommerce and set it up using the EPOS database, let alone would I know that the stupid thing would replace the "orders" table with one of its own!

The orders table had 1,500 records in it, now replaced by an entirely fresh new table with different sturcture.

IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN GET MY OLD TABLE BACK? I'M PRAYING FOR A MIRACLE SOLUTION HERE!

Please MySQL be keeping secrect logs and backup copes :bemused:

I once suceeded in recovering data when I did rm some files. I found them back someway by detecting the Inodes. This was some weird stuff, and I don't remember a lot of it anymore, only that it happened.

The problem may be different if you do not rm your files, but replace them: the Inodes might be the same, and your former data may have been physically replaced. If so, there is no hope to recover if you do not have any backup.

I'm afraid I can't give you a more positive reply to this.

Try to find a Linux guru to help you with this. This problem is more on the level of the filesystem than of the MySql level
