Help with dynamic sigs.

I play a game called "RuneScape". Some of you may have heard of it. Well, I have my own site, and I want to make an image for it, to display my stats. The only problem is, I dont know how to do that. Of course, anyone who has done it isnt willing to share with me how they did it. So, I need to know how to take some info off of a database and show it on an image. I need to be able to name the image something like "image.gif?sn=username". I know it can be done, because it has been before. If anyone can help with any part of this, I'd be very grateful.

Easiest way that comes to mind right away is to change your MIME Types to include the .gif extension to include application/x-httpd-php (change to be appropriate with whatever server software you're using). That way you can put your image into a database and do whatever you need. There are plenty of posts elsewhere that'll help you with creating an image, etc.

I suggest you get to know the GD Library image functions. Your image file can then be called image.php, and you can use image.php?un=username or whatever else you need. You would have full control over what is displayed in the image.

Look for "PHP Random Tag Line Image Generator" and you'll find code that should give you a start. You'll have to write code to read in and display your stats, but that shouldn't be too difficult.

ok, thanks guys. I think I know what you're talking about Buzz, but the question is will it work on forums as a sig? well, only one way to see...

If you forum sig settings authorize image tag, then yes you can do it.

Put in your sig :

This is only HTML.

And then in your image.php program :

<?PHP

$myparam = $_GET["param"]; // To get the param's value 

header("Content-type: image/jpeg");

... here using some GD functions to create the image

yeah, thanks. I got the image thing up, so that you can add <img src="http://www.cwolf2.com/image.php"> to a webpage and it will show the image. But how do I do overlapping text with this thing? From what I understand of this thing, I have to make a new string right?

I'm not sure to understand.

Your image will be displayed like any other image inside an HTML context. You can put it everywhere : in a table with HTML text
up or down the image or left or right or ... wherever you want
to put your HTML text.

Or do you mean putting some text inside your image ?

Then use GD functions to do so.
