Include help

Hi,
I’m very new at PHP and would like a simple feature of it on a site.

I currently have an iframe for the navigation so I only need to update one page for every other pages. This is the only functionality I want basically. 🙂

How to do with this include? I heared it’s simple but it tried it quickly and doesn’t seem to work so I would appreciate it if someone could explain all the steps for me. (From iframe conversion)

include('./path/to/file.php');

The trick is to make sure the file calling the include has a PHP extension, so it is parsed by the php processor before the output is sent to the browser.

If you can't get it to work, post some code, and let us know how you named your files.

I got something working now.
I added:

<? include("../map/file.htm") ?>

Inside a table (td) where the Iframe link used to be.

Only the mainpage needs to be .php?
And all the pages that are included can stay .htm?

The main reason I wanted to try php was because a javascript menu can't sway out of an iframe.

This is correct. You could have the includes be .htm, .html, *.php, etc....
