Parse Text File

I want to pasre a text file, create 5 variables and then insert the data into a table.

The text file is a set of dictation from a medical office, the text file will have a variable amount of records so the sollution I need will need to be in an array of some type.

Patient is here complaining of chills and night sweats, headaches, and dizziness continues. Eyes are getting better however from last visit. We will switch him to Augmentin at this time and advised Tylenol and Motrin for fever. We will follow.

Patient is here complaining of needing prescription refills. Patient also needs a checkup. He has history of high blood pressure and diabetes. He is on lisinopril 10 mg q. daily for high blood pressure control, also on Lasix. Blood pressure is 140/52. Patient with no complaints of any headaches or chest pain. Examination reveals cardiovascular, regular rate and rhythm with faint heart sounds, lungs are clear, abdomen benign, extremities no edema. A/P: Patient with the above-listed medical conditions. We will continue current management. We will get lab including hemoglobin AIc today. We will follow.

Patient is here for followup on cough. Patient was seen on 07/25/2003, was given Tequin. Patient now complains of having a whitish stuff on his tongue. Examination reveals that patient with whitish layer on his tongue and neck with no lymphadenopathy, lungs are clear. A/P: Patient with thrush following antibiotic use and we will give a course of Nystatin. Also, patient will need to be checked for gonorrhea and chlamydia and HIV. We will follow.

The 5 variables will be

You could do it with some of PHP's built in functions like eregi():

www.php.net/eregi

See the manual for usage.

Then create an array to hold your variables.

If eregi finds a string that matches, have it add to your array.

Afterwards, use foreach to iterate through the array and execute an INSERT statement into your db's table.
