how to start

I want to do a student information system for my dad. He's a lecturer.

I want the system to store student name, id, group, course code, course name,

i want to design a general system so anybody can use it not just my dad...

anyone can give me some suggestions how should i start off before i jump into coding. 😃

you'll need to make it database driven which means you need an understanding of databases, you should also have a firm grasp of php before jumping into something this large. See if the comp sci department at the school will work with you, they may already have something in place.

i have some basic database understanding and programming language. i'm not very familiar with php but i want to learn it by doing this own project.
