Session-cookies not available.. Now what!

Hi,

As many of us I am sure, I am now running into trouble with people having cookies disabled, causing no session cookie to be set, and loosing the session. Unfortunately, in all their widom -ahum- my provider has disabled the session.use_trans_id.

How can I now use sessions? Anybody ideas? I cannot change the PhP ini file.

The settings:
session.name PHPSESSID PHPSESSID
session.referer_check no value no value
session.save_handler files files
session.save_path
session.serialize_handler php php
session.use_cookies On On
session.use_only_cookies Off Off
session.use_trans_sid Off Off

Hi,

depending on the configuration of Apache the following might do the trick:

Put a file called .htaccess in DOCUMENT_ROOT containing:

<IfModule mod_php4.c>
php_flag session.use_trans_sid On
</IfModule>

(if php4 and apache)

Alternatively try it with just

php_flag session.use_trans_sid On

I don't know a similar solution if it is a Windows server.
