Selling specialist web development

Not sure if this comes under advertising.. delete-me-do if it does.

How do you lot go about selling websites to people? I've been writing a web gallery system fo a little while, and its pretty damn good. I'd rather like to raise some cash for a new camera, so I figured I'd sell it to other photographers at a knock-down price compared to what they'd pay to get it developed for themselves...

But how do you:

1. Find people who might want it?
2. Persuade them they do want it?

i get a lot of enquiries through word of mouth. I started doing websites for companies that couldn't afford to pay much - charities, new business, personal projects etc. That way you do a standard job, they pay you very little and are very impressed, and tell all their friends.

Another thing i've always thought of doing but never done is a mailshot.

Combine the two, maybe - get down to your local college, they will probably have a photography course, post some stuff on the wall about your gallery - amateur photographers who maybe can't afford much, but are very enthusiastic about getting their site noticed!
