    I'm in IRC now 🙂

Can you guys recommend a good, easy to use client that I don't have to pay for.

Unlike mIRC. Stupid program I could swear this program used to be free!

Any recommendations? I'm a cheap ass student. Ok ex-student. But my ass is still cheap...

Well i use Chatzilla. You can get it with the Mozilla Suite, or by getting Firefox and installing it as an Extension 😉

I personally use Trillian (when my laptop's not screwed up :glare: )

I like being able to have one program for all IM/chat programs. I even bought a copy of the pro edition (:eek🙂. $25 which works out at about £13, so well worth it 🙂

          Not-so-random IRC clip:

x17:25x [Davy27] I'm just enjoying the fact I've foudn the file. mmmm 🙂
          x17:25x • goldbug hates php

            lol!!

And ya know what now? It won't find the file!! Even though it's there!! I put it in the C:\php\ext\folder but the damn thing gets mixed up and confused with the /'s and the \'s so I gave up...

            :glare:

                Try X-Chat.

Althought ist's a orginally a ux client there is a fine Windows port as well, I use it with sattisfaction.

Although the 2.4 version is nolonger free, you can still download it's soucecode and build your own with MS Studio or download the pre-build 2.10 version (wich i have).

There is also a 2.4 build available on http://www.silverex.info/

(Ok this might seems strange, but the fact is that Zedd (Developer of X-chat decided no that the windows build would nog longer be free, but the source still is. So some other guy decided to make a Windows build on the freely available soucecode and make it freely availabe to the public)

I would like to (ab)use this topic for a great opperunity for people to get in toutch with KVIrc [/spam 😃]

KVIrc is in my oppinion a great client for both nx and windows.

And provides more that you could ever dream off. It's one of the few clients outthere that truely has it's onw powerfull scripting language. It's open source and free for every one.
Fully theme-able, support many different encoding types.
Has an build-in encryption engine (with SHA, Rijdeal, etc, etc)
                    And many more!
(and i get to build thier new site 🙂)

So forget about mIrc, BitchX (wich looks lousy) xChat and every other client. KVIRc is the way to go!

Well...It appears the channel is still there, and still horribly unpopulated. Would anyone like to fix that with me? A lot easier than using the forums for some people.

You should make one or two more people ops Piersk...Let them get things started, etc.

Yeah, like I know how

I see that dalecosp is trying to revive the PHPBuilder IRC channel... I've been poking around avoiding work way too much on IRC these days as well.

I would love to participate, but my company does not allow us out on the appropriate ports.

Sounds like you need a new job 🙂

With ssh/proxy/tunneling...any port can be the appropriate port 😃
