Catagories not working

I have a "topauction sript from "phplabs.I loaded it to my server(apache).I used the install file to install the databases,That worked.It then gave the instruction to follow the rest of the install instructions but there are none.
When I tried to add catagories to the script it will not show I did so but when you hit the "browse" button the catagories show up.
It will let you register.It will not let you sell anything since you cannot choose the catagorie to sell them in.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Have you tried contacting the original author yet? That's the best route to go in if they have support available... Otherwise, you need to start posting applicable code, for all to look at.
