Want to try linux?

I found this nice linux os that allows you to run linux while also runing windows, or you can exit windows and start linux, then run windows inside of linux (with the wine emulator).

Anyways all that I ask for is if you install it from the url I am about to give you than, help me install the bootmanager (you will know when you get there in the installation process).

P.S. Dont be discouraged to download this program just because I can get it installed (trust me you people will probally have it up and running before I even do).

there are easier ways like Mandrake Move (runs from the CD, no need to install anything).

Duel partitioning (windows and Linux on the same hard drive) is available with most distros of Linux.

P.S. I seriously wouldn't recommend using Wine, it doesn't work that well.

You could also try the free Knoppix (Knoppix org), which is a 'live CD' - it installs nothing and leaves no trace. The Knoppix CD is also a good way of retrieving data when Windows is out to lunch. Set the BIOS to boot from CD, boot the Knoppix CD and then rescue your data to disk or USB stick or to CD-RW if you have a separate drive.

Also nice if you want to try Linux at work without attracting the attention of the retards from 'systems support'.

Thanks for giving me this website like I said, I was having trouble installing the other linux, but have decided to trash it and go with the one you gave a link to. And also like you said you can do this with out systems support even knowing (since the computer I was thinking of putting linux on was a work computer).

EDIT: I went to the site and noticed it is in german/dutch some foreign language to me. Is the linux version going to be iin german/dutch because I do not know the first thing about the language.

Can I run like Gnome and other stuff like that? or does it have to be downloaded seperatly?

I don't know if Gnome is built in, but it boots into a KDE enviroment. It runs all from RAM, but you can access your hard drives with it too. So if it didn't have Gnome, I'd assume putting it on wouldn't be hard.

Ok because I do not want to download it and find out that there is no graphical inviroment (and it just be a command prompt kind of thing with no way of getting a program like KDE, Gnome or something similar.)

Yep, just burn it (as an image), then boot to it.

Knoppix is way cool... It can access NTFS paritions too... is there a way that I can make my Red Hat9 access NTFS? Assuming that there is not too much making work(New to Linux)... It took me a month to install Wireless USB on Red Hat 9... 😃

You should be able to mount an ntfs partition as read-only already. In order to write to it, you would need an outside progam.

Well I would be downloading knopix right know but it said, 9 hours so (estimated download time) I guess I will just wait till I get home where I have broadband connection.
