phpMyAdmin

Hello,

I just installed mysql on my win XP for the first time. I havent used it on my own computer before so im not sure how to configure it... well it works after installing but now i want to setup phpMyAdmin so that i can work with it but when i go to the config file i have to enter, username, password and host...

host is already set to localhost but what do i enter in username and password variables?? I havnt set any user... how do i do that if thats the case?

pls help.

The default for MySQL is the user "root" with no password.

ok, got it. now there is another problem though... i dont get any error messages when i go to http://localhost/phpmyadmin/index.php the site is just white-blank...? I have read the Documentation on now to install phpMyAdmin and the manual said that i should be in by now...

any idea on what could be wrong?

you need to have phpmyadmin installed on the computer that the webserver is on, and you need to have support for php.... hope this helps

That's half true. You need php support, but it can be on any computer you choose. It doesn't have to be on the server.

okay... well i have php installed and working and mysql as well... i followed the phpmyadmin installation instructions and the final step is to go to index.php where you have to do something but when i go to index.php its just blank.... 😕
