File Uploads Question

Maybe I do not understand it right but maybe someone can clear stuff up for me. Say I am uploading a huge file, let's say it is 30MB and I am on a rediculously slow 56K connection, the max_execution_time setting is 30. Is that 30 milliseconds, seconds, or what? And if it takes longer than 30x to upload, will the script stop to execute?

Second question is about the upload_max_filesize setting, which is by default 2MB. If the file I am uploading is 30MB, will the script not work?

Put

set_time_limit(0);

before copy() function.

Yes the script will stop.

If your using IIS then set_time_limit() MUST be less than the max time limit in the IIS config.

If you have problems with set_time_limit(0) (and you probably will). Change it to a large number.

P.S. set_time_limit(0) = unlimited time

Ok so putting set_time_limit(0) right before the upload process will give it an unlimited time to upload right? What about the filesize question?

the file size is not a problem, I'm loading files into a database that are from time to time 200 mb

just adapt the settings in this part of your php ini file

Well I am running my site on a server that has safe-mode on. Will using ini_set() work?
