I currently have an Oscommerce store, and stock OSC is not well suited for automotive type stores. I have hacked it up, and it works somewhat, but I would like a better out the box solution. Is there anything out there for free or pay that works better? I looked at X-cart...but it didn't seem much better than OSCommerce. A key feature I would like would be for users to be able to use drop down menus to sellect their Make>Model>Year of car...and have all the relevent products displayed. Also another key thing is the ability to charge a fixed rate for shipping because alot of my products are drop shipped for a fixed rate.

PLEASE help...I am loosing customers because of various bugs in the current cart!

Sunshop. It costs money, but works wonderully. If you plan to make money it won't hurt now to pay a little bit.

Looks good, but it doesn't have the Make>Model>Year search I want.

None of the systems you're looking at for carts are going to have that. You're going to have to make the categories yourself. Sunshop allows you to create the categories, and they can click through. This I know from first hand experiance with it. I mess around a lot on my localhost.

Yeah...what I dont get though is I see stores with those features all the time. Also, sunshop seems to create ragged looking thumbnails...is that fixable?

Yah the example site has horrible images, because the camera they use is horrible for one. (I can tell by the look of the DPI fit) that and well.. the images can only look so good if they are large and are thumbnailed to a tiny proportion.

I have a hack on OSC that uses GD to resize....does Sunshop have that?

              my current site www.marylandspeed.com

I beleive subshop comes with GD, GD2, and imagemagick plugins.

Your site looks wonderful, etc.. have you though of maybe just hiring someone to fix those bugs?

Most people I talk to want too much, and it seems like the code is so bastardized it is hard to do anything with.

Well not to impose or anything, but what is your budget?

Haha...I am not really sure to be honest, right now this bug is the main issue...then I would like to get the search coded.

The cookie bug seems impossible to fix because I can not replicate it.

                          Hi

I have a project that deals only with car parts and will do exactly what you want, you will have to modify certain parts for it work with your site but it is a fully Object Oreintated structured site.

It will do the searchs you want and more.

                          BBK

                            Hi Branden,

My site will need some chopping to work with yours but it can be done, I need your e-mail addy to send you the code, i need you then to fire my site up and really take a good look at what "bits and peices you want" - this is really important as some parts of the site are perfect for you (code wise) and really your site looks good on the front end.
I designed this site to show how code works so my front end is average.

Now as far as how much i will charge for my site well if you put the phpbuilder logo on your site you can have the entire lot for free 🙂 .....sorry I took a while to get back to you as i was watching New Zealand humilate Australia last night in the rugby.

On another note if it turns out you dont want any bits from this site them no problems, I can assist with merging but you will have to give me a complete copy so i can work on it locally, this is up to you and just because I am sending you code dosn't mean you are compelled its just for this type of "merge" you will either have the skills to do this or you will need some help.

Kevin - to all aussies sorry we smashed you last night 😛

                              My email is admin@marylandspeed.com

I am not sure about using the phpbuilder logo on my site...I wanna keep it looking as professional as I can...and I worry ramndom users may think it's a bedroom programmer job. I would likley try to merge tham anyway, which if I do I have no issue sharing the source code. All I ask is that if you use it on a public site you make it look different from mine on the front end.

My site is a heavily modded OSCommerce....is yours based anywhere near off that?

                              Thanks for all your help!

                                Hi branden;

its sent as a zip file attachment, the index page is /shop/index.php any problems post here or e-mail me, I do understand about the lol "bedroom" programmers look, I only started programming php 9 months ago so i hope its ok, there are some design or lack of design issues and of course some areas need "tightening" up, this was for educational purposes only for this reason(s) so please keep the copyright intact as you are the sole exception I am granting for this to be used for any commercial purpose.

What ever you do make sure the code is secure for "live" use I can help here but again this is if you want to expose your source code to me - I am not fussed either way.

I am wishing to realease this code for others to play with so any feed back is welcome.

                                Kevin (BBK)
