Updating SQL records with Excel, Access, ASCII files

I am in a situation where one person (such as an administrator), can update user profiles in an SQL database manually (VIA html forms).

Today, my boss asked me to look into updating SQL records VIA Excel, Access, and ASCII text files.

For example, instead of updating one SQL record at a time, we will simply import the Excel, Access, or ASCII text file with the new records, and update the database in one full sweep.

This is some pretty advanced stuff for me, so if anyone knows any good forums/sites to check out on this topic, please send them my way!!
