POST Forms

I have been working on a few forms using $_POST['field']. I have a question, once the information has been posted, and the page goes to the <form> target, how do you unset the POST information so that if someone refreshes the page, it doesnt send the POST again, and again, and again.

Set a cookie or session
check with your database for recent records reg to IPs
redirect to same page as soon as posted using header()

I dont know why you would say use a header(), once you've entered information into a mysql database its way too late to send a header.., how would setting a cookie affect whether its going to send the post information over again? Same with checking a databse for recent ips. I know I could check the db and see if that user has posted the exact thing, but thats defeating the purpose. I want the internet explorer prompt "The page cannot refresh without resending the information, press retry to resend the information, or press cancel to return to the page you were trying to view". Any Ideas?

well if u want a IE prompt saying the page cant be refreshed without re-sending data ... in my case this prompt comes automatically. I use IE 6.

After you post the information, just reload the page like this so that it clears all that crap.

header("Location: $PHP_SELF");

or load a completely different page if you'd like.

And why is that? Inserting Data into SQL table doesnt mean echoing something to browser... you still can use header()
