passing varible to search string

am using shopping cart software called actinic.

the software using a cgi search search to search the site. I am using a custom built php based page as the home page that sites on top off the actinic site.

I asking if i could get help into putting a search on the home page.

Actinic searches the site with following url

http://www.MYURL.co.uk/scripts/ss000001.pl?SS=[COLOR=firebrick]search[/COLOR] &ACTION.x=20&ACTION.y=6&PR=-1&TB=A&SHOP=

where the red search, is the search that the customer types in.

Basically i need to know how I can get the customer search into that area of the search string.

Here is a basic form to get you rolling... There are many other ways you can do this, but this is the basic with no formatting, no error checking, etc... Just a plain form to submit a value to the URL...

thanks for the help but tried it this way and doesn;t seem to work/. the search strong need to be at that exact place

i tried that and doesn;t work. all the following off the url is missed out after the search name

tsinka beat me to the punch... Yeah, make the other variables as hidden fields, and it will work... I just tried it from my PC, and it worked with hidden variables.
