[Resolved] want the date to update...

Is there some code for the date, that when I update or do
anything in Mysql, that it will reflect the date on the page when
reloaded. Like for example I added some info to a page, and then
when the browser is reloaded it will say last updated and then
the date?

i dunno that either, but i used the DIY approach. create a datetime column in my table and then pull it out...

Charles, do you want the date of when the web page was last updated or when a record from a table in MySQL was last updated. Your first sentence suggests the latter and your second question suggests the former.

nitelight has the right suggestion if you want the last time a record was modified. If you want MySQL to do the updates for you automatically, use a column type of TIMESTAMP vice DATETIME.

sorry for the confusion, yes I want it to update when a record

Using this:

I never did before. I am going to try to set this up now. I
am sure I will have more questions.

What code is placed on the php page itself?

Ok, am using the DATETIME and am getting this error:
Error: Unknown column 'date_field' in 'field list'

I have chosen this as my field name:
'sur_update'

What would be the Lenght/Value or Attributes?
I tried YYYY-MM-DD and that is this error.

Charles, for your two recent posts:

Code to appear at the top of each page would have to be a query of the column in your table containing your datetime or timestamp values just like any other query you perform with PHP code.
As far as why you're getting this error, it sounds like you are incorrectly specifying date_field or sur_update as the column name. I couldn't tell you for sure without looking at your table definition and the SQL statement that you are passing via PHP. Verify your column names match what you are specifying in your query. If you're still stumped post your table definition and your PHP code and I'll take a look.

I used DATETIME
added a $date
and called that in, it works fine!
