webcam and voice recording

I don't know if this is the right place for this thread, but i'm wondering if php can show a webcam and voice and also let you record both and save to a database...

PHP Itself cannot record the anything from the webcam. However using say flash or something similar you can. From there its just a matter of how you are going to have it run. And if the database is neccesary.

ok a customer wants to have his guests to be able to record video and voice and store it... what do you guys think the best way to do this?

Look at the shrink wrapped software that comes with the webcam. If that software doesn't support recording, a Google search could be in order for such software. Once your recording is saved and depending on what format you have saved as, technically, yes, you could save the recording to a database. However, heed planetsim's suggestion on whether this is necessary. If that is above you to decide, then at least you know where to invest your time in researching in order to make it possible.

so there is no software to be able to record voice and video from the web?
I meant guests as in website visitors. not as in real life guests.

Most people who have Webcam are able to make a Moive in avi or other video format with software that came with the Webcam itself, if user selects the file to upload, then its ok

work around would be let user make a Video file and use a uploading script to upload the selected movie file.

Not sire if there is any JAVA applets for free or not, but if you find something, i hope the user want have to download Recording software then wait, then record comments then upload.
