how enable email in php

hello,

i'm trying to run mail in php but it won't not go? i don't really have detail in linux admin. would mail functionalities is built-in in php?
what services should be running in linux?

i'm running an apache server on our local intranet only. it has no internet connectivity. but i want the mail functionality so that i can send event notices to my local intranet users which in lotus notes? how would i go about it?

we have a domino server. can php connect to a domino server?

Probably your best bet in Linux is to use local mail server. If it cannot deliver messages directly (because of a firewall or policy), then ensure that it forwards the messages to a "smart host" (which could be your Domino server) which can deliver messages.
